Back in the Game!!!

Ok so after all the mourning, grieving and sobbing I'm back in the game. Now that i've completely exhausted all my resources - practice tests, books etc I have a big challenge ahead of me. How do i improve? After much thought i've decided to take some profession help. With my current state of mind, i dont think i'll be able to do a good job identifying my weaknesses and putting together a totally new approach to my preps. So i hired a tutor. Well not the $250 per hour big shots from the "Big 5" (you know what/whom i mean!!) Anyway i found this really enterprising independent tutor in NYC and he was the first guy i talked, to throw some really good suggestions. So hopefully we will be able to put together a game plan for the 3rd attempt (the word make be nauseous).

Oh and I just got my scores on the AWA section. I got a perfect 6.0. Pretty happy with that.

  1. Are you going to use the tutor for Quant or Verbal only, or will it be an all encompassing prep? Having someone there will help motivate you to do better because not only are you working hard, but you won't want to let someone else down by disappointing on the GMAT. Great strategy!

  2. Hey thanks sgargiulo for your comment. I'm planning to invest 75% of my tutoring time on Verbal and the rest on Quant. Its 2 hrs a sitting and I'll use a half hour for quant as there is not too much to 'learn' in quant right now. Ya i hope this strategy works.. Keeping my fingers crossed.

  3. I wish you all the best Hari!
Did you cross the 50 mark in Quant? If not you could concentrate a little more than you seem to have planned for Quant.

  6. Thanks for all you wishes and comments. I promise to keep ya'll updated.

@julydream, I used pretty much every book in the market that has GMAT written on it. LOL!!But seriously, most of my preparation was from the Manhattan GMAT books and practice was from Official guides - 11th and 12th edition + the official verbal and quant supplementary books.

  7. Hari..lately I have become kind of regular visitor to your blog. I feel also bad for you. I know the agonizing that one has go thru for starting prep again.

My best wishes for you prep man, but make sure you know each question by heart from OG.

It might help if you want extent your target to say 730. I believe on your day you can score +30 from target score while at the same on a bad day it could be -30.

And do not schedule your exam unless you are pretty confident that I am gonna score XXX no matter what circumstances come.

  8. Hari,

That's the spirit! You can now be sure that you need to focus just on Verbal for majority of the time. Goodluck!

  10. Good luck Hari! I am also working towards an MBA, and find it odd how much my GMAT score fluctuates between tests. You have time to take it again, and your hard work will pay off! Stay in touch, Best. A. (mbatrek.wordpress.com)
